Through The Lines with Nimfasha Berchimas
Nimfasha Berchimas
Nimfasha has been with Charlotte Fc for quite some time now, but as there is with any player, there are steps to make it to a professional academy. Berchimas detailed his experience pre-Charlotte FC by stating: “My early stages of my career was in Georgia playing with KSA for a year and than moved to North Carolina and played for PTFC that’s now Carolina and than got scouted by NC Fusion when they were a DA team and than played there for six months and than when covid hit Charlotte FC became a team asked me to join the team and I said yes.” Berchimas bounced around from team to team, and he quickly rose above the average 2008 born player. He was soon playing up age groups for Charlotte’s academy. This lead to him gaining valuable experience with top teams overseas. Berchimas detailed his experiences at Manchester United and Bayern Munich by saying, “Playing at Bayern Munich and Manchester United influenced my game so much it made me more confident to what I do and just thinking ahead and make me play quicker.” Berchimas continued his journey with Charlotte FC following these opportunities, and he detailed his proudest moments at the club: “The most resonated part of my journey from my pathway was when I was playing GA Cup against river plate u15 and having my debut for first team.” Clearly making his debut with the first team is a top accomplishment, but Generation Adidas Cup has given the opportunity for MLS sides to square off against international competition.
This quick success allowed Berchimas to be seen and scouted by the USYNT. Berchimas quickly graduated past his age group, and 2023 he found himself in pole position to make the U17 World Cup squad. Berchiams detailed his success at the World Cup: “The biggest lesson I’ve learned that I was 15 and playing very well against top players in the world and I feel confident that I can be one of the best if I continue to just play as myself and have fun.” He scored multiple goals at the tournament, and he was one of the top players in the United States side. More recently, Nimfasha was out for an extended period of time due to a food injury. Injuries are just apart of the game, and most players deal with them throughout the course of their career. Berchimas commented on this injury: “I stayed mentally strong with my family, teammates and my coaches they were there for me every moment of the game way , gave me more confidence telling me once I come back I would be stronger than before and I did everything I can to make sure I’m better everyday, every training and every game now.” Finall, we asked Nimfasha to give some advice to give some advice to younger playershoping to emulate his success one day: “My advice is always to be confident and play as yourself and listen to the people closest to you and your coaches and you will get where you want to be.”
